Blind Filter (1 x 1)

A Blind Filter (also called a blank filter basket or backflush disc) is a solid, stainless steel insert that fits into the portafilter of an espresso machine.

Unlike a standard filter basket, it has no holes, which makes it essential for cleaning and maintenance rather than brewing.

How it Works:

(Backflushing)The Process: You replace your standard coffee basket with the blind filter and add a specialized espresso machine detergent (like Cafiza).

• The Action: When you lock the portafilter into the machine and engage the brew cycle, the lack of holes causes water and detergent to be forced backwards into the machine’s internal valves, pipes, and group head.
• The Purpose: It flushes out built-up coffee oils, grounds, and residue.

Why It’s Essential:

• Taste Preservation: Coffee oils go rancid over time. Regular blind-filtering prevents this old residue from souring fresh coffee.
• Machine Health: Prevents internal valves from getting clogged and extends the lifespan of the machine.
